Yemen: Imam assassinations fuel tensions between Gulf powers

Issue 1047 - 02 Nov 2017 | 2 minute read

The assassinations of three prominent Salafi imams in Aden seem part of a wider trend of clandestine confrontations across the country in recent months. Moderate imam Sheikh Adel Al-Shehri was shot in the Inma area of Aden on 28 October. Sheikh Fahd Mohammed Qasim Al-Younsi was killed in the city’s Al-Mansura district on 18 October and Yassin Al-Adani died on 10 October. Sheikh Mohammed Ali Al-Nashiri escaped an alleged attempt in the Dar Saad district on 22 October.
