World Bank considers support for OMVG project

The World Bank is considering providing a $173m loan for a programme to finance power transmission lines for the four-nation Gambia River Basin Development Organisation (OMVG). The $715m fourth West African Power Pool adjustable programme lending instrument-phase II project will finance three of seven transmission lines, with all seven totalling 1,709km of 225kV lines and 15 substations forming an interconnection loop between Senegal, the Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea. The World Bank board will make its final approval decision on 14 November.
