West Africa Upstream update: Exploration halted by Ebola after poor offshore results
Liberia has come under fire for a decision to launch its fourth licensing round in August, before the new oil law is finalised and while the country is ravaged by the Ebola virus. The epidemic, which has killed more than 2,000 people since March, has obliged ExxonMobil to delay a planned twowell drilling campaign on offshore Block LB-13. “Travel restrictions into and within the country have severely limited our ability to progress plans for drilling. We remain committed to exploring Block 13 when conditions in Liberia improve,” a company spokesman told African Energy.
