US awards GCC contracts worth $400m in August

Almost $400m worth of contracts involving Gulf Co-operation Council countries were announced by the US Department of Defense during August, with a further $220m of contracts having at least some GCC component to them. The largest deal was a $222m contract for eight CH-47F Chinook helicopters for the Royal Saudi Land Forces Aviation Command, awarded to The Boeing Company. This forms part of a seven-year, $4.1bn contract signed in 2013.
