UAE steps back from aerial confrontation with Qatar

The UAE appeared to back away from an escalation of its dispute with Qatar as GSN went to press, following a series of claims and counter-claims about infringements into national airspace and harassment of civilian and military aircraft.In mid-January, Qatar wrote formal letters of complaint to UN secretary general António Guterres alleging that UAE fighter jets had entered its airspace on 21 December and 3 January without giving Doha prior notice or receiving its approval.
