UAE electronic security agency moves ahead with surveillance

The National Electronic Security Authority (Nesa) sits atop the UAE security pyramid, as the federation makes government surveillance a top priority in its concerted push towards a fully secure and controlled society (GSN 1,033/1). Nesa is led by well-connected director general Jassem Al-Zaabi, formerly a director of Mubadala Development Corporation (MDC); he is also chairman of satellite firm Yahsat, a board member of Emirates Telecommunication Integrated Company (Du) and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.
