UAE elected to UN Human Rights Council

The UAE has been elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council, for a three-year term starting in early 2013. The UAE stood unopposed as one of the candidates for the Asia region; one source said significant “horse trade” had gone on behind the scenes to secure its place.
