UAE: Turnout falls in FNC elections

Elections to the UAE’s consultative assembly, the Federal National Council, which ended on 5 October, failed to inspire much enthusiasm among voters. Some 117,592 voters cast their ballot – a turnout of 34.8%, slightly lower than the 35.2% who voted at the previous election in 2015. Many of those who did vote reported doing so along family and tribal lines.
