UAE: Sheikha Bint Saeed’s funeral

Sheikha Bint Saeed Al-Maktoum, aunt of Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (MBR) and the family’s eldest surviving member, died on 28 January. Sheikh Mohammed led her funeral prayer later that day. The funeral was attended by her sons Sheikhs Hasher, Ahmed, Al-Murr/Marwan, Butti and Saeed, along with numerous senior Al-Maktoum members, the rulers of Fujairah, Ras Al-Khaimah and Umm Al-Quwain and representatives from the other emirates. The 90-year-old Sheikha was an important family member and, in her heyday, was well-respected as a leading businesswoman. Her daughter is Sheikha Hind, who is MBR’s leading wife.
