The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated the successful launch of the UAE’s first nanosatellite on 15 February. The Nayif-1 was sent into space onboard the PSLV-C37 rocket, launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India. It was part of a payload of 104 satellites, the largest number of satellites ever launched together. The Nayif-1 will be used to send and receive text messages on amateur radio frequencies.
