UAE: Satellite launch, Mars dreams

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated the successful launch of the UAE’s first nanosatellite on 15 February. The Nayif-1 was sent into space onboard the PSLV-C37 rocket, launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India. It was part of a payload of 104 satellites, the largest number of satellites ever launched together. The Nayif-1 will be used to send and receive text messages on amateur radio frequencies.
