UAE: Royal pardons mark the start of Ramadan

The start of Ramadan was, as usual, marked with pardons for thousands of prisoners in the name of the federation and individual rulers. The number of released inmates was higher than in recent years, with over 4,400 people set free in amnesties announced on 8 May. Some 3,005 prisoners were released in the name of President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
