UAE: MBR quashes embarrassing conviction

Federal vice president and prime minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (MBR) attempted to quell negative headlines about his emirate by intervening in a case against 27-year-old British subject Jamie Harron, to ensure charges of indecency against him were dropped. Harron had been sentenced to three months in jail on 22 October, after coming into contact with Emad Tabaza, managing director of German engineering firm Neuman & Esser, at the Rock Bottom bar in Dubai.
