UAE: Fujairah’s royals emerge from shadows

Fujairah’s Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi continued with his recent run of high-profile engagements by leading the UAE’s delegation to the League of Arab States summit in Tunis in late March. A month earlier, he had led the UAE’s team to the first summit between the Arab League and European Union, held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh. Adding to the intrigue around the position of the thinly-populated emirate, Sheikh Hamad’s son Rashid has also re-emerged in the UAE, a year after reportedly defecting to Qatar.
