UAE: Emirati firms search for orders at London defence jamboree

Emirati firms were the most prominent Gulf attendees at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI), often touted as the world’s biggest arms fair, on 12-15 September. The trade show took place, as usual, at the ExCel centre in London’s Docklands, which is owned by Adnec Group (whose main asset is the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre).More than 1,600 companies promoted their wares at this year’s DESI, of which around 13 were from the UAE – most linked to Tawazun Economic Council, the government body developing an indigenous defence industry; they were clustered on the UAE’s national pavilion.
