UAE: Dubai revamps governance structure

Federal Vice President, prime minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum (MBR) chaired the first meeting of the Dubai Council on 7 January, the latest initiative to revamp his emirate’s governance and boost its tepid economy. Other members of the new body include Dubai Executive Council (DEC) chairman and Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed, who is first deputy of Dubai Council, and deputy ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed, who is second deputy.
