UAE: Directors named for Louvre

A French director,Manuel Rabaté, has finally been appointed to run the Louvre Abu Dhabi, ahead of the delayed museum (which will take the name Louvre for a 30-year period) opening next year on Saadiyat Island. Rabaté will be supported by a younger generation UAE national, Hissa Al-Dhaheri, as deputy director. With a Gulf studies master’s degree from the UK’s Exeter University, Al-Dhaheri is employed by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), which has steered the development of Saadiyat Island’s ‘cultural quarter’; she has been TCA Abu Dhabi’s lead on the Louvre project.
