Debate over ‘pardons’ for Omani exiles

There is confusion over a series of reported pardons by Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Said of Omani critics who have been living in self-imposed exile.In one version of events, Oman’s long-standing ambassador to London Abdelaziz Al-Hinai passed on the news to Dhofari human rights blogger Said Jadad that he had received a royal pardon. Pictures of another exile Muawiyah Salem Al-Rawahi arriving back at Muscat International Airport were posted online by his father. Muthahir Al-Tajer, exiled in Spain, apparently received news of his royal pardon in March.
