The 94 male and female defendants, all linked to the Islamist group, are being charged under Article 180 of the UAE penal code, which stipulates “temporary imprisonment” for anyone who founds, organises or administers an organisation aimed at “overthrowing, seizing or opposing” the basic principles of state.
