Tariff study planned

Issue 226 - 01 Mar 2012 | 1 minute read

The Ministry of Energy plans to commission a study on the cost of electricity in Kenya, with the aim of making electricity more affordable. Kenya Power managing director Joseph Njoroge said the study would recommend improvements to the existing tariff regime. Its findings will be used to inform the next tariff review, scheduled for 2014, which will set tariffs for 2014-17. The study is financed by the World Bank as part of a $330m loan to the Kenya Electricity Expansion Project.
