Tanzania: Woodside back in Africa

Woodside Petroleum has made a decisive return to Africa with a second acquisition in less than two weeks, farming into Beach Energy’s Lake Tanganyika South Block in western Tanzania. Woodside will take 70% in the block, where Beach signed a production-sharing agreement in June 2010. A 2D seismic survey over the lake was completed in August 2012, using a converted ferry. Beach said the survey had identified 18 “high potential” prospects and leads.
