Tanzania: Drilling planned for Ngozi geothermal prospect

Tanzania Geothermal Development Company (TGDC) has signed a contract with Italy’s ELC Electroconsult to drill the Ngozi geothermal prospect in the Mbeya region, Tanzania’s Daily News reported. Speaking during the signing, TGDC general manager Kato Kabaka said drilling rigs would be imported by the end of the year. The Climate Investment Funds approved a $21.7m facility for the project in 2017, comprising a $5m loan and $16.73m grant from the Scaling-up Renewable Energy Programme.
