Tanzania: Bid round to launch in October

Issue 255 - 31 May 2013 | 4 minute read

Tanzania plans to launch its fourth licensing round on 25 October, offering seven deep-water blocks and the Lake Tanganyika North Block. An announcement on the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) website said the round would be launched at the 2nd Tanzania Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition in Dar es Salaam on 23-25 October. TPDC will retain deep-water blocks 4/1B and 4/1C to explore with a strategic partner. The round is due to close on 15 May 2014. Lake Tanganyika North was awarded to Total in 2011, but the company has been unable to finalise the terms of a production- sharing contract with TPDC.
