Sunni-Shia tension: Sadr ignites row with Manama

A diplomatic spat blew up between Manama and Baghdad in April, following a statement by Sairoon political movement (the largest in the Iraqi parliament) leader Muqtada Al-Sadr in which he called for an immediate end to the “wars” in Yemen, Bahrain and Syria, and for those countries’ rulers to step down. Bahrain condemned the powerful Shia cleric’s comments as an attempt to interfere in its internal affairs.
