LNG scheme aims to transform Southern African market

South Africa’s DNG Energy is developing a gas import scheme in Mozambique’s Maputo Bay to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the transport, mining and industrial sectors in the Southern African Development Community. An 8,000 tonne barge is under construction in Durban and is due for completion in early February. It will then be sailed to Maputo to be in place by mid-February, ready for commissioning in March. The barge will be moored alongside a floating gas storage unit, and will be able to fill 380 ISO containers simultaneously.
