The request for qualification (RfQ) for South Africa’s mooted liquefied natural gas (LNG)-to-power programme is expected at mid-year, IPP Office adviser John Smelcer and director of upstream and midstream oil and gas at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Kishan Pillay told the African Gas Forum in Johannesburg on 20 February. The RfQ was expected in November but has been delayed following the release of the draft integrated resource plan (IRP) and integrated energy plan (IEP) (AE 335/1).
