Issue 386 - 14 Feb 2019 | 2 minute read

Total has announced what it terms a significant gas condensate discovery with the Brulpadda well on Block 11B/12B, opening a new play in the Outeniqua Basin off the southern coast. Total said it planned to acquire 3D seismic this year, then drill up to four more exploration wells on the 19,000km2 licence.“With this discovery, Total has opened a new world-class gas and oil play and is well positioned to test several follow-on prospects on the same block,” senior vice-president exploration Kevin McLachlan said in a statement.
