Qatar: QP states its intent with LNG mega-deals

Qatar Petroleum (QP) on 4 June signed contracts it said were worth QR70bn ($19.23bn)-plus with three South Korean yards, which could build more than 100 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to serve its huge planned North Field expansion and other projects. Brushing away questions about long-term global market capacity and the challenge of cutthroat international competition, QP took the ultra-bullish approach of announcing the “largest shipbuilding agreements in history”.
