Sheikh Sultan still in detention at ruler’s palace

On 20 April, Sheikh Sultan Bin Kayed Al Qasimi, a member of Ras Al Khaimah’s ruling family and chairman of the Islamist group Al Islah, was arrested by plain-clothed security officers. It is still not clear who ordered his arrest or continuing detention at the palace of his first cousin, Ras Al Khaimah ruler Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
