Senior princes speak out on Syria, US relations

Some senior Saudi royals have voiced Riyadh’s anger over western (and in particular US) inaction on Syria. It is not clear whether they were speaking with the backing of King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz, though his outrage at Syrian government atrocities has been evident. It is also not clear to what extent their positions – and especially claims that Riyadh plans to work less closely with Washington – reflect the true state of US-Saudi relations. PRINCE BANDAR BIN SULTAN BIN ABDELAZIZ: General Intelligence Directorate (GID) chief Prince Bandar is thought to be in charge of at least some parts of the Syria portfolio, and has been outspoken in his criticism of western inaction there.
