Senegal: Scaling Solar projects close

French utility Engie, asset manager Meridiam and Senegal’s sovereign wealth fund Fonds Souverain d’Investissements Stratégiques (Fonsis) have reached financial close on two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The 35MWp Kahone Solaire project in Kaolack region and 25MWp Kael Solaire project in Touga-Kaël in Diourbel region were awarded to the consortium through the Scaling Solar programme in October 2017. The projects will cost a combined €47.5m ($53m), with a €38m debt package provided by the European Investment Bank, the International Finance Corporation and France’s Proparco.
