Senegal: Bid round offers ten blocks

Petroleum and energy minister Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé launched Senegal’s first licensing round on 5 November, offering existing open acreage and new ultra-deep blocks. Speaking at the launch at Africa Oil Week in Cape Town, Cissé said the round aimed to encourage the discovery of more oil in order to increase Senegal’s reserves, and to improve the management of the country’s natural resources to support economic development.The round includes the Senegal Offshore Sud Profond (SOSP) Block, which is in arbitration.
