Schlumberger quits OneLNG

Issue 370 - 01 Jun 2018 | 2 minute read

Golar and Schlumberger have agreed to wind down their OneLNG joint venture, casting further doubt on Equatorial Guinea’s Fortuna Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project following the resignation of Ophir Energy chief executive Nick Cooper. Ophir announced on 18 May that Cooper had stepped down with immediate effect. Earlier this month the company announced the acquisition of southeast Asian assets from Australia’s Santos and the farmout of 40% in its new Equatorial Guinea block EG-24 to Kosmos Energy, but it is struggling to secure finance for Fortuna, while development of the Tanzania LNG project is also making little progress.
