Saudi Arabia: Volte face as Riyadh re-engages with Lebanon

Lebanese President Michel Aoun and prime minister Saad Hariri headed a delegation to Saudi Arabia on 14 April, where the 83-year old head of state addressed the League of Arab States summit. The visit was another sign that Beirut has managed to rebuild relations with its Gulf near-neighbours, after they pledged billions of dollars in soft loans at a donor conference in Paris on 4 April and following a series of other bridge-building meetings between senior figures in Riyadh and Beirut.
