Saudi Arabia: Seven in shortlist for domestic flights

Seven airlines are still in the running for a Saudi domestic licence, to be allocated in October. In an interview with Bloomberg on 23 July, a spokesman for the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said the shortlist (cut from 14 applicants) included Qatar Airways, China’s Hainan Airlines, Bahrain Air and its Bahraini rival Gulf Air, Dubai’s Falcon Express Cargo Airlines, (which wants to run a freight service), and two Egyptian carriers.
