Saudi Arabia: Salman meets Iran’s Abdollahian

With the rest of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) increasingly willing to consider the benefits of a less antagonistic relationship with Tehran, Saudi Arabia has – as GSN predicted last issue (GSN 971/7) – taken another small step towards its great rival by staging a brief meeting between Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud and Iran’s deputy minister for Arab and African affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s 8 June inauguration in Cairo.
