Saudi Arabia: Plans for a liberal resort draw criticism

Plans for a new international resort on the Red Sea backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) – a favoured vehicle of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman – has sparked criticism after suggestions it will have a more relaxed dress code than the rest of the kingdom. Conservatives voiced concern about the potential for immoral activity and liberals said allowing women to wear bikinis was an insult in a country which still won’t let them drive a car.
