Saudi Arabia: Mecca crane acquittals

The Penal Court in Mecca on 1 October acquitted all 13 people charged with negligence in relation to the collapse of a crane at the Grand Mosque in September 2015. The attorney general has appealed. Some 118 people were killed in the incident and almost 400 injured. The accident contributed to severe problems at Saudi Binladin Group, after the government cancelled its contracts with the construction giant.
