Veteran US journalist Bob Woodward’s new book on Donald Trump is an eminently readable, if generally predictable, account of an institution in meltdown, with the president overseeing “a nervous breakdown of the executive power of the most powerful country in the world”. As with most of Woodward’s previous 18 books, Fear: Trump in the White House appears to leave a huge amount of research languishing in the Washington Post associate editor’s tapes and note books.
