Spain’s King Felipe VI is to make a state visit to the kingdom from 14-16 January. This is a rescheduled trip – he was originally meant to come in November but had to cancel following the death of King Salman’s brother, Prince Turki Bin Abdelaziz. King Felipe will be accompanied by foreign minister Alfonso Dastis and public works minister Inigo de la Serna. Spain is looking for final sign-off on a contract to buy five Avante 2200 corvette patrol vessels for the Royal Saudi Naval Force eastern fleet expansion.
