Saudi Arabia: King Salman’s calls, meetings

In the weeks after ordering airstrikes on the Houthis in Yemen, King Salman Bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud has made a number of telephone calls to world leaders. On 17 April, he called US President Barack Obama (who had called him earlier in April to discuss the nuclear deal with Iran ); the White House said that they discussed the United Nations Security Council’s resolution on Yemen, and agreed their “collective goal” was to achieve stability in Yemen “through a negotiated political solution facilitated by the United Nations and involving all parties as envisioned in the GCC [Gulf Co-operation Council] initiative”.
