King Salman Bin Abdelaziz opened the 31st Janadriya festival in early February. The festival promotes traditional Saudi values and Bedouin heritage and was used by its late patron King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz and his sons to highlight their tribal links. The Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) announced in September that the king would be patron. SANG minister Prince Miteb Bin Abdullah runs the festival’s organising committee. Various regional rulers or their representatives attended, including Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, UAE interior minister and deputy premier Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan
