Saudi Arabia: First Saudi-made Hawk launched

Crown Prince and defence minister Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdelaziz (MBS) launched the first Hawk training aircraft assembled in Saudi Arabia, in a ceremony at King Abdelaziz Air Base in Dhahran on 1 April. Some parts of the jet were also manufactured locally. It is the first step in a plan to assemble 22 of the BAE Systems aircraft in the kingdom – part of a wider effort to develop an indigenous defence manufacturing industry in line with the Vision 2030 economic reform programme.
