Saudi Arabia: Environmental and cultural stimulus for Riyadh

The government announced a series of ambitious projects for Riyadh on 19 March, at an estimated cost of SR86bn ($23bn). The schemes include a plan to convert the military airbase site in central Riyadh into a 13km2 park. To be named after King Salman, the authorities claim it will be the world’s biggest city park, four times larger than New York’s Central Park.
