Saudi Arabia: Claimants fight on in dispute with Aramco and Chevron

The heirs of two key advisers to King Abdelaziz (Ibn Saud, 1876-1953), including several royal family members, are continuing their fight to have a huge financial award in a land use dispute enforced in the United States. The award, valued at SR39.8bn ($17.9bn), made in 2015 by the Cairo-based International Arbitration Center (IAC). In an effort to maintain pressure, the heirs in June filed cases in two US states: Al-Qarqani versus Arab American Oil Company in Texas and Al-Qarqani et al versus Chevron Corporation et al in California.
