Saudi Arabia: CP Salman in Pakistan

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud arrived in Islamabad on 15 February, his first visit to Pakistan since becoming defence minister in 2011, and the highest level talks between the two countries in around six years. A red carpet was rolled out for the prince – who had visited Pakistan in 1998 as governor of Riyadh – as he arrived at Nur Khan Airbase, and he was received by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a number of senior officials and a 19-gun salute. His three-day visit was part of a new drive to revitalise relations, which began in January with a visit from Saudi foreign minister Saud Al-Faisal.
