Human rights groups accused UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon of caving in to Saudi Arabia, after it was “temporarily removed” from a blacklist of child rights violators (due to the Yemen conflict), following “threats” from unnamed countries to stop funding essential UN programmes. Ban called this “one of the most painful and difficult decisions I have had to make”.
