Among King Salman’s decrees were a number of ministerial changes, the most significant of which was the retirement of Prince Saud Al-Faisal, who is replaced at foreign affairs by Adel Al-Jubeir, until now the US ambassador. Prince Saud, who has wanted to leave on medical grounds for a long time, seems set to retain oversight of the portfolio, in his new roles as supervisor of foreign affairs, adviser and special envoy to the king, minister of state and cabinet member (for more on this, see above).
