Saudi Arabia: Badawi’s second flogging postponed

Liberal Saudi writer Raif Badawi was flogged publicly 50 times on 9 January, having been sentenced to 1,000 lashes and ten years in prison for insulting Islam. Badawi, who edited the Saudi Arabian Liberals website, was arrested in Jeddah in June 2012, and initially sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes in mid-2013; that sentence was increased in 2014.
