Saudi/UAE axis grows ever stronger

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) has undoubtedly had a major regional impact, most often working in alliance with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (MBZ). The Abu Dhabi-Riyadh axis, supported by Bahrain, has strengthened further in recent months – most visibly since 5 June, when the ‘GCC-3’ and Egypt turned on Qatar, which they accused of supporting terrorism. The six-member Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), meanwhile, is deeply divided.
